The Entertainment Computer System (ECS) was a 1983 add-on peripheral for the Mattel Electronics Intellivision console, designed to convert the gaming system into a home computer.
The ECS hardware included a Computer Module with 2KB of RAM and a built-in BASIC interpreter, along with ports for a chiclet-style keyboard, Music Synthesizer, or additional controllers for four-player gaming. It also featured a GI AY-3-8914 sound chip to provide three extra audio channels (six total) and interfaces for cassette tape data storage and thermal printing.
